Have you ever wondered if you’re cleaning your floor the correct way? To clean and care for your floor first you have to know what type of chemicals to use on your floor.
Using the wrong chemical can cause serious damages causing you to spend to repair. That’s something we want to avoid.
It doesn’t matter the type of floor you have it can be cleaned and look amazing. A clean floor will make your entire house appeared to be clean and that is actually factual. I am sure you would want to experience that magic, wouldn’t you?
I’m a floor addict, My floor is the main topic on my cleaning schedule. Shoes are prohibited from wearing in my house that’s why my floor has to be immaculate at all times.
In this article, we will be cleaning 10 types of floor. Don’t WORRY cleaning your floor is pretty easy as ABC. It really doesn’t require a scientist to do it. Let’s take a stroll and see what we find.
1.VINYL FLOORING
Vinyl comes in two forms of TILES and SHEETS. It is an awesome floor to have and to care for. These floors are water and stain resistant which makes them easy to clean.
To clean your vinyl floor, using a bucket simply combine 1 cup cider vinegar with 2 gallons of warm water. Use this solution to wipe the floor using a mop. Ensure the mop is clean at all times by periodically rinsing it in the bucket.
2.MARBLE FLOOR ARE GLAMOROUS
If your floor is made from marble that means it is easily scratched, prone to cracks, and gloriously beautiful and expensive. You want to be very careful what you use to clean if you want to keep it damage-free and looking at its best.
3.HARDWOOD FLOORS
The rustic feel that a hardwood floor gives to your home is just majestic. However harsh chemicals can cause it to lose its touch. For your hardwood floor to maintain its majestic appearance here is how to clean it.
The best way to care for your hardwood floor is to avoid harsh chemicals especially vinegar. Stay away from soaps too. These will ruin your floor appearance overtime.
Waxing works but only if allowed to dry and then shine using a soft towel or dry mop. Steam cleaners release excessive water which can cause cupping of your hardwood floor.
To care for this type of floor. Simply wipe with a damp mop. You can also cover the walking area with a rug. This will not only keep the floor clean but will protect it from scrapes and scratches.
4.LAMINATE FLOORS
Your floor can imitate many different types of floors that’s why it is called a laminate floor. However, because it is not 100% natural cleaning methods are not altogether restricted. Let us see what we find that is great for cleaning this beautiful floor.
STEP 1– Combine 1/2 cup Pine-Sol to 2 gallons of warm water.
STEP 2-Using a clean mop, wipe the floor with the mixture. Wring the mop until it’s almost dry before wiping to avoid the floor from becoming too wet which can cause ugly looking streaks. Repeat the process if the floor is drowning in the dirt.
5.TILE FLOORS ARE MAGNIFICENT
Tiles are easy to clean but there’s a trick to cleaning and preserving them. Not cleaning your tile the correct way can leave it looking faded and smoggy. They can get really sticky too. Here’s how to clean your tiles.
To clean these beauties all you need is water a bucket and a mop. To keep your tiles glowing clean them as often as necessary. The grout is where the problem lies. Use a solution of 1/4 cup liquid bleach and 1/2 cup baking soda.
Combine into a paste and use a toothbrush to plaster it on the grout. Let this remain for 1 hour. Using the same toothbrush, scrub the grout to remove the gunk. When you are through, use a wet mop to clean the floor.
6.CARPET FLOORING COZY FEELING
The most common issues with having carpet flooring are stains and odor. One good piece of advice is to try to keep your carpet dry. If this should happen get it dried as fast as you can.
Not doing so can cause a moldy smell in your home. Do so by lifting the carpet (wet area) then clean the floor with vinegar and water. Allow to dry, replace the carpet, and use a blow dryer to dry the area.
To remove stains combine 1 tbsp baking soda, 1/4 cup distilled vinegar 2 tbsp hydrogen peroxide. Pour into a spray bottle and mist the stain.
Allow it to sit for 10 minutes. Wipe with a damp cloth for 2 minutes. The stain should no longer be visible. Repeat the process if necessary. To remove odor do a regular sprinkle of baking soda on your carpet.
7.BAMBOO FLOORS
I just love bamboo. This is an awesome floor, new to the market, and eco-friendly not to mention how beautiful it is. Because it is new on the market not much is known about its domestic care. Doing my research I contacted someone who owns a bamboo house in the Caribbean.
Also, I have a bamboo dresser that always has its own glow, I guess that’s from the varnish. Let’s see how to clean a bamboo floor the right way.
Add to a bucket a gallon of water (warm) toss in 1 cork full of Murphy’s Oil Soap. Use a clean mop along with the mixture to wipe the floor. Avoid the floor getting too wet. It turns out that all your bamboo floor need is a little TLC
8. HOW TO CLEAN CORK FLOOR
It’s as natural as it gets. This floor is made from trees. Its Origins are from Spain and Portugal. To clean this floor should be easy as it absorbs stains quickly. If your floor is CORK then you shouldn’t have a problem keeping it up.
To clean this type of floor, sweep the floor then add a dab of mild detergent to a bucket of warm water. If you prefer to use another mild chemical that’s okay. Use a soft cloth or mop to wipe the floor. To dry use another clean dry cloth and allow the air to do the rest.
9. MAKE YOUR LINOLEUM GLOW
To clean your linoleum is a charm. If all floor types were this easy to be cleaned then we wouldn’t have to be going through this article.
All you need to clean your linoleum floor is a bucket, a mop, and water. Squeeze the water from the mop and proceed to clean your floor. My top advice for cleaning floors is to always wipe twice.
The second wipe is the one that will close the deal by removing any dirt the first wipe left behind. Always use a clean mop or cloth to wipe.
10.RUBBER FLOORS
Rubber floors are easy to care for too. All you need to do is to keep it away from harsh chemicals. These can cause erosion which’s definitely something you want to avoid. Here is a simple way to clean your rubber floor.
Fill a container with water add a dab of dish soap. Use a non-abrasive scrubber to clean the floor. Vacuuming will help to remove dirt and other particles. Be very moderate with the amount of water when you clean. Do this once monthly.
To clean with a wet vac. Mop the floor for 5 minutes. Go over the floor with the wet vac. Remember to use a mild detergent in your vac when cleaning your rubber floor. This is wonderful!
