HOW TO TURN YOUR HOUSE INTO A HYGGE HOME

Hygge, many folks may wonder what is this strange word? Hygge is a Danish word that in English means having a feeling of calmness, peace, and a comfortable atmosphere around you.

Living in an uncomfortable situation can be very stressful and affect your mental health causing you to get anxious which can lead to other illnesses.

There is nothing to lose if you try living a hygge life in any circumstance. It is something you have always longed for. Your situation can become your haven. Here are a few tips on how to live the hygge way no matter where life takes you.

                               1. CHAT WITH LOVED ONES

Keeping in touch with friends and family knowing they are doing great will give you peace of mind. Laughing and talking to loved ones is medicine to the soul.
This helps when you talk with people you want to talk with.

Talk about fun stuff. Things that make you laugh. At the end of the conversation, you should still be smiling. LET DOWN YOUR HAIR, RELAX AND HAVE FUN CHATTING ABOUT POSITIVE THINGS.

There are so many hygge skills that can be learned that will make you feel hygge. There will come a time in your life when you need to sit back and think about yourself, and the things that will make you happy.

.You need a time out for yourself to do this. Creating a hygge skill area will give you enough time to think about things you wish to do but didn’t have the time to learn.

Prepare a little cozy area on the porch or in the living room where you will sit and practice making something. While doing this, try playing some relaxing instrumental music in the background while you sit there knitting away. Don’t be surprised if you fall into a peaceful slumber in that same spot.

                                      CREATE A HYGGE CORNER

Trying to live a hygge way is not hard. Find a corner in your house, where no one will bother you.  Place a nice comfortable chair or sofa in that corner.  Retrieve all those books and magazines that you didn’t get to read and place them on a sofa table right beside your chair.

Putting an end table beside your chair will allow you to get to them easily. While wrapped up snuggly in your comfy chair throw over a nice warm blanket and sip on a hot cup of chocolate tea. Forget about the world and everything it has to offer. Your world is right there in your hygge corner.

You may always want to get away from the rest of the household sometimes just for that moment to sit and reflect.  This is your hygge corner, where you will be by yourself and do just that peacefully.

                                          4. LIGHT SOME CANDLES

Candles can change the ambience in a room. Choosing your favourite candles to place in your room will surely make you have a feeling of hygge.

Lighting a scented candle that gives off your favorite aroma can make you feel so very relaxed and comfortable. Even if the candles aren’t scented, once they are lit, it will make the atmosphere feel so peaceful creating a feeling of hygge.

                          5. SIP ON YOUR FAVORITE WARM BEVERAGE

Have you ever entered a home to inhale the aromas smell of coffee or chocolate coming from the kitchen?. Well, in the evenings when you might be feeling bored, just get your coffee or Chocolate tea going on your stovetop how about a glass of red wine, sounds good.

..Hmmm, sit back, read a book, dim the lights, listen to some of your favourite music, and slowly sip on a cup of your favourite tea while inhaling the rich aroma. This is what you call living the hygge way when there is nothing else to do.

 

6. HYGGE TREATS

There are so many things one can do to enjoy a hygge life when you need to feel at home or to simply relax, you need to start with the things you do. One activity you can do to create comfort is, baking. Cakes, puddings, biscuits, cupcakes, cookies, and cinnamon rolls are great hygge treats.

.Cinnamon rolls when baked give off an aroma in the house that no one can resist inhaling. By inhaling this lovely fragrance, you will feel like just relaxing and meditating on the hygge life around you.

If you are a person who has a sweet tooth, you will be so eager to grab one of those rolls when baked. Aside from cinnamon rolls and the others mentioned, you can try to bake other pastries that you and your family will enjoy.

7. FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT

Create a wonderful time with your family. Why not make a plan for a couple of nights while everyone is at home to do something special and entertaining.

Plan to have movie nights. Watch funny movies and laugh your hearts out while sprawled on the carpet with the kids around you.
